Religion in Russia


The chief religion of Russia is Russian Orthodox Christianity (75 % of the citizens).

Since the collapse of the atheist Communist regime, statisticians estimate the percentage of true believers at 40 % of the entire Russian Federation.

Islam is professed by more than 20 % of the citizens. There are also catholic, protestants and jewish minorities in Russia.
